CEE’S FUN FOTO CHALLENGE: THINGS THAT ARE ROUGH
This week’s topic is Things that are rough. Anything that feels rough, like sand paper, gravel, tree bark, an elephant’s trunk or a cactus or rusty piece of metal. Lots of rough things in this world.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Marilyn, I am in love with the texture on the old Ford truck. You came up with some fabulous roughness.

Thank you. I should have included my 1928 tractor, too but it was snowed under when I needed to shoot it 🙂

My 6 days worth of stubble face feels about as rough as that cactus now…. though not quite as pretty.

A good closeup and you can have another award winning picture! Six days of stubble is generally called “a beard.”

I’m a once a week shaver, so I guess I beard and unbeard all of the time. A squirrel with a beard is just weird when you think about it…

It would have to be a soft, silvery beard. That might be verrry sexy 😂

If so, Don Johnson has nothing to worry about so far as competition… even at his current age.

Beautiful photos, and indeed rough 🙂 Wouldn’t touch the cacti you’ve captured.
Love the last picture too, nice diagonal line in the composition.
Happy Friday and warm regards,

Thank you. I’m very big on diagonals 🙂

They are great ways to bring some dynamics to a photo 🙂

It’s the first thing I learned about composition. I looked at other photographs I like and realized they usually had a strong diagonal. So … I imitated their stuff. And kept imitating until I began to know what I was doing. 40 years later, I still look for the diagonal. I don’t always find one, but if it IS there, I will find it 🙂

That’s brilliant. (Almost) everything we learn is by imitating 🙂 if there isn’t any diagonal line, just keep the camera diagonal 😉
Happy weekend!

Being self-taught, you sort of have to find photographers whose work you like and use them as a guide. I don’t know any other way to learn. I also had a friend who was recently out of photography school and he helped with the technical stuff. The rest, I just learned 🙂

Autodidact is a fantastic word. I’m going to have to find a way to work it into conversation. Garry will love it 😁

Haha, it is a great word, and so are many other words! I love languages, the pictures coming out our mouths 😉
