These days, in honor of Cee’s challenges, when I’m out shooting, I always take a few odd ones. Because I know I’ll have a good use for them when this challenge comes around.

Odd doesn’t exclude charming … especially when a dog is involved. Bonnie is definitely odd, but very charming 🙂

If you lived with her — or any Scottie — you might change your mind 🙂 They are very quirky and funny little dogs. If you want an obedient dog, this isn’t the dog for you. If you want one that will challenge you every day and make you laugh often, definitely yes.

I totally agree 🙂 They have a sense of humor. We used to have PBGVs (shaggy basset like French rabbit hounds) and they were also a hoot. If you laughed at anything they did, they would keep doing it and look for new ways to make you laugh, earning them the nickname “clown dogs.”

Ever since I started my Wednesday photo feature (Which of course, was inspired by your Serendipty Photo Prompt), I’ve been doing more and more of this too… finding random and strange things I can exploit for a post on my blog. A lot of times, these pictures are more interesting than the things we want to take photos of…

We have three of them. They are mosaics and they were part of the wall that enclosed a huge old mill (Bernat Mills) which burned down some years ago. There are three of them, all built during the late 1800s, depicting life in the village. There isn’t much left of the mill — it was built mostly of wood (brick veneer, but inside and in the back, OLD dry wood). Most of the wood mills have burned down.Others are being taken down because of the danger of fire. The stone and brick mills are surviving, converted to condos, affordable housing, or business centers.

It was a HUGE fire and went on for more than two weeks and involved every volunteer fire department for miles around (all the fire departments in the valley are mostly or all volunteer). It was sad because the mill had been turned into a business center. Fortunately, it was the middle of the night and no living things were hurt. Just businesses having to rebuild and relocate.

I remember reading about that fire Marilyn- thank you for all the info-so sad a fire like that- such devastation.Interesting the stone and brick are now condos. Progress and change I suppose

It’s a socially redeeming repurposing of the buildings. Some mills are architecturally beautiful and all of them are located on the river.or a canal because that’s what powered them. They are very popular dwellings and it’s nice that some are affordable and for seniors. Waiting lists for all of them, naturally. Great retirement communities. It’s a lot better than letting them fall to pieces.
The mostly wooden ones are fire hazards. There have been a lot of fires and now, finally, they are either installing proper sprinkler systems or tearing them down. Before they tear themselves down.

I also find myself taking strange objects for an odd ball. I now have the habit of taking photos whilst on the way to the supermarket with Mr. Swiss. I do not get out as much as I used to on walks unfortunately. Love your odd balls, and hope that the Scottie does not mind being qualified as an “odd ball”.

I have taken a lot of grocery store pictures. Now, I also take parking lot pictures. Bonnie would tell you herself: she is PROUD of being odd. Sometimes, she borders on downright peculiar, but always cute 🙂
I don’t get out so much anymore either. And winter is coming.
