It has been a glorious month of shining. Autumn in this part of North America, glows. Trees appear to be lit from within. Sometimes a simple ride down the road to pick something up from the grocery store makes your breath stop for a moment and your heart beat faster.
Heart-stopping, breathtaking beauty and we live right in the middle of it. It is a gift that keeps on giving.

Thank you. A little bit left now after the rain, but we are now past the peak foliage. Maybe we’ll get a bit of red before it ends.

My goodness, your colours are glorious. You out did us there too (Jays).

Thank you, but it may not be entirely true. It WAS pretty amazing, but we had very little red this year. Almost everything was yellow or orange. Too many maples were defoliated in the spring and many of them didn’t really fully recover. It was beautiful, but the range of colors was smaller than in other years.

We had the yellows and oranges but very few reds too. I don’t think there will be much more left on the trees after this bit of weather coming through.

Me neither. I’m very glad we went and shot a lot while we could. I would have been very sorry had we waited.

When I look around at the natural beauty of our Valley, I think of Judy Garland’s line at the end of “Meet Me In St. Louis” where she’s exclaiming about the turn of the century World’s Fair and shouts, “right here in our own backyard”.
We live in a Currier and Ives valley.
As I write, the sun has just burst through the clouds to give us a technicolor moment.

It is sometimes almost unreal. Everywhere, including in our own backyard 🙂

Thank you. It’s raining hard now, so this is probably the end for the leaves. Great while it lasted!

I have so many pictures, I couldn’t fit them into one post. And so many of them came out really well. It was a great shooting month with picture perfect weather to go with the colors.

You do have some wonderful Autumn landscapes. I remember when we were in New York in Autumn and saw across the river to the wonderful Autumn leaves.

Autumn along the Hudson river is wonderful. I remember it well and with great affection. It’s raining now, so I think this will be the end of the best. If only it would last longer.
