It’s that time of year again and squares are back!
An old red barn (circa 1750) and a roof
It’s also the museum in River Bend park by the Blackstone Canal.
Well, the theme is ROOFS (or rooves if you prefer). Your roof can be;
A – any type, any condition, any size, and in any location.
B – it could be a shot across rooftops, of one roof like today or even a macro
C – you might prefer to spend some time under the eaves and in the attic, or enjoy the view from above as Brian has already done today.
See you tomorrow!

Nice colourful barn and it looks in fairly good shape too.

It’s a museum in a national park — this IS a national park or a close cousin to one — so they maintain it. But surprisingly, we have quite a few houses and barns from this area and most of them are very well maintained. I guess some people are a little less poor than us!

My uncle’s barn is gone now, it fell down.

They do collapse if you don’t maintain their structure. But mostly, locally at least, they rebuild barns. I think they are extremely useful — and expensive to replace.

It was huge when he had it. He stored the hay in the upper level and the cattle and a few horses in the lower part. It would cost a fortune to build or even maintain it today.

Leslie, that’s a bummer.

I might add Garry, that my uncle is long gone too. But that was an era when farming was more important.

It’s not less important. We all still need to eat. But people don’t seem to realize that the food we eat is GROWN by farmers. We think it just springs up in the supermarket.

Okay, Leslie, thank you. I had an Aunt and Uncle who had a farm in upstate New York. I only have very hazy memories of time spent there.

I would spend a week or two every summer. I would walk the cattle to pasture with either my uncle or my grandfather every morning and back again in the evening.

LESLIE, I have some similar sense memory images. The smell is still very pungent.

Not the pungent smell I meant, Leslie.

Nice location for our own Midsomer Murders episode — “The Red Barn Murders” Duke will play Sykes/Paddy.

It’s a wonderful old barn! Looks somewhat like one in Seattle that some friends converted to a house!

In this case, it is a small museum of the farms along the river. Nice pictures and they sell a few things.
