HI Marilyn, these are lovely pictures. The squirrel at the bottom looks very laid back and relaxed.

He really WAS taking a nap on his favorite branch. He just opened his eyes for a moment, but after eating all the seed, he needed an afternoon nap 😀

That second photo with all the movement–a beauty, Marilyn!

Thank you. I was there before it was light, so I got all the “early birds” flying in big groups of terns, gulls, and plovers looking for breakfast.

I love your take on this topic – nature can indeed be huge or tiny! Your goldfinch photo is a great example of the perfection of ‘small nature’ 🙂

That was a really little one, too. I think that was an early snow in October. So he was still a baby.

A timely reminder that our beautiful planet loves us too…

I keep hoping to remind people that we aren’t the only ones who live on this sphere.

We are an arrogant bunch, we humans. The problem is that the damage we do is not only to us, but to all the things that need the climate we used to have.

I worry that it might already be too late to change any of this…

Thanks, Sadje. Yesterday got so busy I really didn’t have time to do more than one post. This one is working out very busy too. And tomorrow, I have the cardiologist, so ANOTHER busy one. After that, though, it will calm down a lot.

It’s just doctor appointments — many of which have been delayed and can’t be delayed again. I’ve got another one tomorrow. It’s an annual one, but it’s the cardiologist and he’s really busy, so I don’t dare cancel.

I’m counting on it being routine. I have no reason to expect otherwise. The surgery on my heart was really superbly done. While I can’t take credit for the work, I can pat myself on the back for doing the research to find THE best heart surgeon in Boston and having him do the work. I know many people who’ve had heart surgeries with many more problems, but I had a really great surgeon! He was originally from your part of the world, by the way. He came from Pakistan and did his medical degree at Cambridge and then 10 years of surgery in London, then a move to Boston. He’s not much of a talker, but most surgeons aren’t “people friendly.” I have learned that what you want in a surgeon isn’t friendship: it’s skills!

Absolutely right Marilyn. Doctors from Pakistan have made quite a name for themself all over the world. Very hardworking people.

Not much of a talker, but when you need a heart surgeon, chatting isn’t on top of your list of requirements. He did AMAZING work and because of him, I’m alive.

They are my favorites too and I think the pictures I do best. I think they have always been my best photos. For a long time, I didn’t think they were worth much because they came so easily. Eventually I realized that just because they were easy for me didn’t make them easy.

Aw. Love the coldgoldfinch and the lazy squirrel.

I love both of them. That funny little baby Goldfinch and the sleepy squirrel. Sometimes they sleep on the deck railing. Lucky for us, we still have a railing. A big branch fell and took a whack at it yesterday afternoon. Lost a feeder, but the rest of the deck is still intact. Need to get that tree down before it collapses on its own.

Nature is mostly what we have around here, too. It’s the best part of living in the Valley.
