FOTD – April 17 – AND THE OAK TREES ARE READY TO LEAF

Yesterday, the oaks were bare. Today by afternoon, they were covered with baby leaves. This is at least a full month earlier than I’ve seen leaves of any kind — even buds — on the oaks.

I’m glad the oaks are going to leaf. I was afraid we would lose them. We have 2-1/2 acres of mostly oak trees and the idea of acres full of dying oak trees was not a happy one.

When I took these, they looked like monochrome photographs, but when I twiddled with them a bit, it turned out the leaves are green. Considering the distance from which I took these pictures, that I got any color at all is surprising. Good lens!
