Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Trees
The colorful autumn leave as well as delicate shades of green leaves will lose something when translated to black and white. However, the shape and form of trees in black and white is amplified, especially in silhouette against a bright sky.

Beautiful choices. Love especially the palm trees of different height and the snowy ones.

Palm trees make great silhouettes. They are so distinctive. You never mistake a palm for some other kind of tree 🙂

I really love the silhouetted palm trees 🙂 !

For some reason, palm trees look better in silhouette than any other tree. Maybe it’s that very recognizable shape? Thank you 🙂

Nice variety of trees. I particularly like the BW-BI-TONE-SUNRISE_01.

Thanks. That one was taken from my back porch last March … just on or around the equinox. For some reason, we get great sunrises that time of year.

Neat photos, Marilyn. It’s difficult to chose a favourite here.

Thanks. You’d think, living as I do in the trees, I might get tired of trees … but no matter where I am, I’m always out shooting trees.

Love those palms in black and white.

Palm trees work really well in black and white. Better than our local hardwood. I think it’s the compact shape of them.

Some really great photos. The palms look really great in monochrome.

Thank you very much. I think palms have such a clearly defined shape, it makes them easy to recognize in silhouette. Much easier than the trees around here … which are also much bigger.

You have some interesting trees, especially the palm trees which we would never see in our area. The Italia part of Switzerland and along the lake of Geneva also have a few palm trees because the climate is milder.

The palm trees were all taken in Arizona. Locally, we probably have more or less the same trees you do — oak and other hard woods. Pine trees of various kinds. One of the more fun things about travelling is getting to photograph different stuff. I don’t know which I like better: the palms or the cacti.
