From Bud to Flower -FOTD – 11/28/2018
So as I follow the progression of my Christmas Cactus, it was full of buds yesterday and blossomed today. Just one blossom, but there are many more buds and a few of them are nice and fat.
I love watching flowers develop. Right now, I’m trying to decide whether it’s time to water it or not. It still feels a little bit damp, so I’m waiting. Maybe tomorrow.
Because it has been so gray, it is taking a really long for everything to dry up.
It’s interesting to see which color comes up in the blooming. Some years, the color is very close to orange.
This year, the blossoms are deep red. As yet, the second plant has no buds so it could bloom as anything from light pink to dark red.

I only got my cactus yesterday but it has buds, so I hope they will also be opening soon.

And I think a few more buds will pop tomorrow. If we get ANY sun at all, I might be able to get some pictures. It’s been really DARK around here lately.

We live under a canopy of oak trees, so this isn’t a bright place in the best of times. We’ve had 18 inches of rain since September 21, nine of them this November!
