Just outside of Lincoln, New Hampshire, high in the White Mountains, a footbridge leads you into the woods onto a hiking trail. If you follow the trail, you will eventually find yourself at the top of one of the highest mountains in the region, a place where altitude equals weather and whatever you know in the lowlands is no longer true.

I love hiking/walking and that looks so inviting. The only time I feel good is when Im on a trail. Beautiful photo!

And it’s a magnificent trail. Great place to hike …but a little dangerous, too.

Beautiful wooden bridge. I love bridges. They seem to carry messages as well as people and vehicles.

They travel across water … I think they have the same symbolism as boats.

Mmm, agree. I find bridges more connecting though. But they are both beautiful.

I guess it’s a personal perspective. I remember I felt that way about the ferry to the Vineyard. As soon as I got on the ferry, I felt like the real journey had begun.

That bridge looks a little precarious, but I have a fear of bridges, nice pic.

It’s actually very sturdy. I’m also afraid of both heights and bridges, but this one is really solid and stable. Just don’t look down!
