A Moment in Time – Until today, it was the last picture I had taken. I captured it January 11, 2015 in honor of Unicorn Appreciation Day. This is the story of the porcelain Unicorn, including the best (very) short movie I’ve ever seen.

It presents a lyrical, touching story of an act of conscience and kindness during a time of great peril, and a reunion many years later.

What a simple and yet heartfelt movie. In such a short film with so few words, it works perfectly.

I am always amazed by how much is said without words. It’s a cautionary tale for movie makers to let the visuals tell their part of the story.

Beautiful touching story. I liked the expressions of an old lady to get her unicorn back. War wounds were not so easy to heal.

It was very touching. Living in central Europe there are luckily many such films showing the situation mainly on German TV. I was reminded of the film “Der Mann mit dem Fagott” (the man with the bassoon) autobiographical from the life of Udo Jürgens the singer who died just before Christmas. There were many moments in the last war which should not be forgotten.

This little one always brings tears to my eyes. We don’t get a lot of the european films — short or full-length — in the U.S. I learned about this one because someone sent me a link, otherwise I would never have known about it. If you have any more, I’d love links to them. I’ll never find them on my own … I wouldn’t know where to look!!

I will have a look. Although your short film only had a few words in German, the ones I have found are completely in German and you would probably not understand them. There are a few books I can recommend, also available in english. I will have a look. We have them in german. One is The Heritage by Siegfried Lenz which I have read in German and saw a film on the TV. Perhaps it would be interesting. I have few more. At the moment I am reading All Quiet on the Western Front by Remarque in original German, about the first world war. Very moving and showing what a waste that war was.

World War I was part one of the series, starring WW II as the second act. Perhaps 100 million or more lives lost and lands devastated. Hitler could never have done what he did had not the terms of the Armistice after World War I not be so punitive. And the scars are still with us. They are still trying to wipe each other out in central Europe and now, in Africa. It seems we never learn.
