PASSAGE THROUGH THE SNOW: BLACK & WHITE SUNDAY – GARRY ARMSTRONG

BLACK & WHITE SUNDAY: PASSAGE

It’s a snow day here in south central Massachusetts. Cold and blowy. Snow has been falling pretty heavily since late morning and now, it’s dark out. Seven in the evening. Dinner is finished. Dishes put away. We were both outside taking pictures earlier. I think Garry got just the right pictures for this topic.

These are natural monochrome. It’s the way the world looks while snow is falling.

  1. Cold but very pretty when freshly fallen, I hate the grey slush it eventually turns in to though.

  7. We got another dusting on Thursday, but just enough to make it appear like winter was giving us more than just single digit temperatures. The last time we went this long in the season without a significant snowfall (about 10 years ago, I think) was the winter it snowed in Dallas, New Orleans, and even Vegas before we saw any of the white stuff here. Winter made sure to smack us down in February for that early season break, though. I can imagine this year may very well be the same…

    • The last time (2 years ago) it went snowless until January 21st. Then we got an 18 inch blizzard followed by two more blizzards during the next 7 days. Before spring came, we piled up 12 feet of snow in less than 5 weeks. I no longer let the weather lull me into a false sense of security. Weather Gods have a peculiar idea of what’s funny.

All in all, we got about 8 inches yesterday, but it looks like more because it’s fluffy and blowy. If this is as bad as it gets, I’m just fine with that.

  8. Yes, it does, and I love it. I know you are not a big fan of cold, but you guys take terrific naturally monochrome images. My thanks to both of you for publishing these for my challenge. Stay warm!

  9. I love those photos and get really a good idea of where and how you are living surrounded by the snow and forest. It looks so picturesque and beautiful – I know living in it is something completely different, but still beautiful. If I ever visit, which is not very likely, I think I will do it in the Summer. Too many accident risks in Winter. 🙂

    • I think those pictures give a better picture than usual of why I have, for example, issues with the driveway. Garry took that long shot from next to where the car is parked. The drive will get plowed in a few hours, but as you can imagine, that’s quite a haul for me from the house. But it is beautiful. Can’t argue with that 🙂
