RDP FRIDAY: HOSPITALITY
You are welcome. All of you. Everyone. People and dogs and birds and squirrels and cats and puppies. Hell, bring the coyotes and a few raccoons.
No one ever comes to this house except my son and granddaughter. No one. In the almost 30 years we’ve been married, once my brother passed away, not a single family member has come to visit. It’s weird. Our friend Ben had the same problem. It took him 30 years to get his sisters to visit … and when they did, it was total chaos.
Be careful what you wish for.
So, no one comes here. Maybe it’s the dogs? They are hairy and they bark. Maybe it’s the barking. They are loud. And hairy.
So consider this an official invitation. We have plenty of room including a guest room with a brand new queen-size bed and a dining room and everything. And the dogs usually stop barking after a while. It’s just their way of saying “HI Y’ALL!” Loudly.
As for the hair, think of it as a condiment. It goes with everything.

The cats and I will be over soon. Parker will hiss and make as much racket as the dogs. Piper will hide…..and contribute to the hair collection. We have that at our house, too!

Condiments. Goes well with everything. Actually, it will be really interesting to see how the dogs like cats. Gibbs will be scared. I’m sure of it.

Do you have wine, or must I bring my own? How long would it take me to drive from Buffalo? I don’t fly.

Have half a bottle of Sutter in the fridge left over from Christmas. Otherwise, we are not drinkers but have no problem with anyone bringing his/her/their own. I think about 6 hours. We drove UP there at one point, but we started in Boston. It depends on traffic.

I’ll see what I can work out for later in the year. I wouldn’t drive that far by myself. I’d really love to meet you and Garry if I can manage it.

Same here. Maybe if neither of us is up to a 6-hour drive, we could manage to meet somewhere in the middle?

Sounds really inviting Marilyn, maybe someday they’ll let us naughty Canadians into the US.

FIRST of all: I‘m REALLY mad at WP (again!) because you‘ve just simply and completely disappeared from my radar – no more info of new posts, no comments, no nothing. Last thing was a question I had to Tom…. That‘s that!!!
Have now RE-ENROLLED – I love your home and if I were to travel ever to the US again (I doubt it), I would love to visit you and the dogs and also take advantage of the beautiful surroundings you live in. I love the forests/woods and I miss them badly here in France.
But then we‘re all visiting each other constantly, on the screen and we might talk more to each other than we (might) do to ppl just around us…. That‘s not too bad either, isn‘t it?

I am just 20 years too late unfortuantely. I would so love to visit, the dogs can even curl up at the bottom of the Queen size with me

I wish too. We are just a little late for worldwide traveling. I couldn’t deal with the tiny airline seats and airports!

If I were within visiting distance, I’d accept your hospitality like a shot out of the nearest cannon. Besides the excellent company of you and Garry, the dogs and your home and countryside would be delightful.

Everyone lives too far away and we’re all too old to traipse around these days. Sigh.

I shed more than the dogs, these days. The really long white hair is all mine!

Haha, I think we all shed about a 100 hairs a day.

Trust me. I shed more than that. A LOT more than that.
