UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL

CMMC – March Close Up or Macro

Cee’s Midweek Madness is seeking closeups or macros. I’m not sure which these are, but they are about as tight as I can go and still see what we are looking at. So there’s a chickadee, a fuchsia, and Bonnie.

  1. Note on the black-capped chickadee: I think technically that might be a rose-breasted chickadee. We have three kinds. They all have a black cap, but different colors elsewhere.

  2. WOW, WOW and WOW. These are marvelous photos Marilyn. My favorite is the chickadee. They have a special pace in my heart. 😀

    • Thank you. The chickadees are my favorites, too. They are also very friendly and when we go out to fill the feeders, they wait, sometimes flying around our heads while we work. They are adorable.

    • I have a good, if frustrating to use, macro lens. One of its issues is although it’s not a slow lens, when you are shooting really close, it won’t work unless you have a lot of light. I haven’t used it much lately because there are no flowers and that’s mostly what it’s good for. But spring will come — eventually.

  4. Love your shot of the fuschia. I have tried several times but my camera can’t do it that perfectly and that near. I really have to save up for a better gear.

    • I bought — years ago — a macro lens. It is a pain in the butt to use, but it will get you really really close to whatever you are shooting. Not good for birds or anything that moves. Mostly good for small items and flowers. Especially flowers.

If you have an interchangeable lens camera, you can probably get a macro lens for it. Just know that macro lenses are fussy. They can produce beautiful results, but not everyone has the patience to work with them.

      • Maybe I will try and save up for it! I have seen so many sites of co bloggers with gorgeous photos…maybe I am just too lazy to try. I have to one day! Thanks Marilyn.
