Evil Squirrel’s Nest Comic #144 — 1/29/15

Most of us here at WordPress have done our share of complaining about the stupid, counter-intuitive, unproductive, and dysfunctional software “upgrades” through which we have had to suffer. Leave it to Evil Squirrel to say it better …. and funnier. From Bill Brown, who really ‘gets it.’

DAILY POST – Burnt – As in burning your bridges and relationships with your customer?

Q: Remember this prompt, when your home was on fire and you got to save five items?

A: How could I forget? It was just yesterday.

Q: That means you left a lot of stuff behind. What are the things you wish you could have taken, but had to leave behind?

A: I would leave WordPress and would take a certain visceral pleasure in seeing you burn, then burnt. I wouldn’t try to save you since you have shown no concern for me or my interests or concerns, nor any commonsense about how writers, artists, and photographers work (that is, NOT on telephones!) … if there were any viable alternative to your platform, I’d be on it. So me? I say go ahead! Burn, baby, burn. I’ll bring the marshmallows.

  1. Every time I use the stats page with WordPress I deliberately go all the way to the end of the pages to click on using the old view. Every time WordPress asks me why and every time I say because I’m used to it, over and over and over. and over!!!!!!

    1. I thought he said it very well. Unfortunately, I’m not finding the situation particularly funny. They just make it harder every day to do the simple things. Eventually, they will convince me to give up blogging entirely. Pity.

  2. I give up. I want to blog so I blog and just ignore the naked facts of WordPress Life, they are so old they are not even golden oldie, just rusty oldies- I think the grid was the beginning of it all, the downfall, the slip into the dark passage of nothings. And the problem is look around, I have not found anything better. I do a regular backup on Blogger. A few people visit, but more by chance than determination. It is not a good site, utterly ignores communication with others, but it is a backup. One advantage I have met a few very nice people here (are you listening Marilyn and Martha amongst others).

    1. I’m bummed about the whole mess. This is taking all the fun out of the blogging experience. Each day is another hassle. I’m thinking of quitting. I never thought I’d say that, but I’m not enjoying this. I love you and the other friends I’ve made but that’s not enough for the amount of work that goes into this site. So I’m not giving up yet, but I’m close.
