SHARING MY WORLD – APRIL COME SHE WILL

SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2016 WEEK 14

—–

If you could hire someone to help you, would it be with cleaning, cooking, or yard work?

As it happens, we already hire someone for the yard work. Can’t do it ourselves.

Fortunately, it’s not a weekly event. No manicured lawns to maintain. The gardens pretty much do their own thing. Which is surprisingly lovely without much human intervention.

So, there’s moving snow off the driveway (hire a plow). There’s mowing the crabgrass, and cleaning up the leaves in the fall (hire a kid).

I would love to have someone come to clean this place once in a while, but I can’t afford it.

As for cooking, I’m the cook. I’ve gotten it down to something of a science. Simple but tasty with easy cleanup.

What makes you laugh the most?

The most? I really don’t know. I laugh at a lot of things. Mostly at cleverness and wit, but sometimes life is just too weird and the only sensible thing to do is laugh.

When I’m laughing at life, everybody except my best friend and my husband thinks I’m cracked.

What was your favorite food when you were a child?

Chocolate. I hated real food.

List at least five favorite flowers or plants.

Day lilies. Dandelions. Columbine. Roses. Daffodils. Fuchsia. Chrysanthemum.

I think I like chrysanthemums because I can spell it.

  1. My mower won’t fire up, as it seems prone to do every even-year Spring, which gives me an excuse to skimp on the yardwork… at least until the grass gets big enough to get fined over. If I weren’t so cheap, I’d get one of those lawn services to do it for me… or pay to have my whole yard paved.

    • Living in the country has one huge benefit which is that no one gives a hoot whether you have a lawn or not. We have a sort of lawn in the back. The dogs occupy the front and it’s pretty much naked dirt. Dogs don’t really appreciated the whole “manicured lawn” gestalt. My son mows the lawn when it gets really long. The only reason we cut it at all is to keep the bugs in check. Ticks and fleas like tall grass.

    • Me too. I wanted to include it, but I couldn’t find a YouTube recording of it that was public domain. It’s been running through my head all day as it rains and rains.
