“Striped by shadow” makes a fascinating pattern on the floor, and the shadow on the churchdoor is intriguing. Wonderful examples. I recognised the thing on your bathroom window from the “glass” post.
Glad to hear that. I do set ups. i don’t have access to a studio anymore and a gave away my lights to someone who has somewhere to use them, but within the limits of window light, I like to do little “sets” … and even when I’m just shooting around the house, some habits die hard. I’m always moving stuff around for a better aesthetic effect. Giving all my “secrets” away.
Thank you. We don’t get a lot of sun once the leaves come out on the trees, so most of my shadow pictures are taken in early spring, winter, and late fall. Or Arizona 🙂
Very nice pics, loved the one on the floor, at first glance it seemed the wood was carved then I realized it is the shadows of the wooden bars. Excellent…
It’s the railing on the deck. Depending on the time of day, it makes a variety of patterns. You can tell it’s about noon when there are NO shadows. The railing is almost a clock 🙂 Thank you !
How delightful. I’ve always been intrigued by shadows and how they change over the course of time. Your pics are wonderful. Thank you for sharing them.
Thank you for liking them. I take a lot of shadow pictures and I have a lot of things hanging on the windows or sitting the the sills that form interesting shadows. Depending on the time of day, they look very different and sometimes, pretty funny 🙂
I wished I could have taken a pic of my cat. The way he lay his ears momentarily outward, paws in the air, looked like a creature from outer space and the twilight zone, incredibly arrestin b I gotta say

Thanks, Paula. I now admit, I intentionally hang things on windows and put things on sills to make shadows … and sometimes rainbows. Is that cheating?

Look the sun is shining, there must be a shadow somewhere – seems we have the same thoughts. some great captures there.

Shadows and reflections are the meat and potatoes of photography 🙂 That, and autumn leaves, fresh snow, and our pets.

Thank you. That was a one in a million moment in time where the light was right and I just happened to be there.
