Smallpox is the first and only human disease that was declared eradicated on a global scale. Also, with the breakthroughs made while eradicating smallpox and a number of other creative solutions, we are now really close to making a few more diseases a thing of the past.

SERENDIPITY - SEEKING INTELLIGENT LIFE ON EARTH 
However, Influenza seems to be different from those diseases mentioned in this blog in that it is a constantly “mutating” organism making it difficult to get a grip on it in a way that is possible with the others mentioned in the video. I still will NOT get a flu vaccination until all versions of this ailment are accounted for. So far, I’ve not had the flu while others, I know, have contracted it even after vaccination.

Then good luck to you. Influenza mutates from year to year. So does cancer. You can get a shot for that year’s most common version, but there will never be a “fix” on all of them because the virus mutates. So do many other things. That’s life being life.
