Flower of the Day – October 13, 2018
I have an interesting relationship with my macro lens. Sometimes, I love it to pieces. When it decided to work, it is perfection.
Macro lenses are kind of touchy. They may focus where you want them to focus — or they may focus where they feel they should focus.

thank you for writing this. I thought I was messing up with the macro because THAT is not what I wanted to focus on at all!

Nice macros, Spike! 😉 I love Alstroemeria.
I was feeling much the same as you, then i found out my camera has an ‘AF Area’ mode with 6 sub-functions one of which is ‘manual spot’. It lets you select a movable crosshair in your viewfinder/LCD screen which you place on the focus target. BLISS! 🙂
I also used to ‘cheat’ and take some of my ‘macros’ from 6-12 feet away with a 60X zoom which gives me greater depth of field than a close-up shot would.

That’s what I thought they were – Alstroemeria.
Beautiful aren’t they?

Exotically beautiful Leslie! 🙂 Also go by the Peruvian lily – like the Tiger Lillies but with stumpier petals!

They seem to be a standard in most bouquets today.
