All things bright and beautiful
Tomorrow is Garry’s 79th birthday! Although it isn’t a “10” year birthday, it is the last one before he hits the big 8-0, so he is my bright square du jour. He is also my bright star the rest of the week, too and though I probably don’t tell him that nearly often enough (I’m not sure there are enough hours in a given week for me to tell him how much I appreciate him), here are my favorite pictures of him I’ve taken in the past couple of weeks. They are the least formal and the most fun.

Happy Birthday, my “old” friend! I don’t mean that in any aged or derogatory way, just that we’ve known each other for a looong time. You look mahvelous, dahlink! Age is but a number. As you are probably all too well aware, aging is a privilege denied to too many. Enjoy your time and may you look down at the grass for many, many more years to come. We both have a lot of mileage on our two feet, you, a little more than I do! However, we have a lot more miles in us and we have to make the best of the time we have. Enjoy the ride Garry, I know I am definitely doing that.

Steve, thanks so much for the kind words. Yes, we do share many memories going back too many years.
I’ll always appreciate your friendship which has extended way past our time in that TV Newsroom. I’m looking forward to the next Zoom And, our next get together, POST pandemic.
As for the mileage, it’s getting up there. Not sure if I have a warranty on this old engine.

Thank you 🙂 It’s hard to make your spouse happy in photographs. He is a tough customer.

Some people treasure their smiles and dispense them with care.

I am trying, honey. My smiles feel phony, What does that say about me? Why am I asking you.
79?? Just a number. Come back again if reach 80. You won’t recognize me with my blonde hair piece, deep blue eyes, wrinkle free face, and a new height of 6’2”. Pipe dreams? Yeah, “but when I grow too old to dream, your kiss…will live…in my heart.”
Could not resists those lyrics from one of my favorite songs, love of my life.
Remember when we didn’t trust anyone 30?
Now, even Duke, our faithful furry companion, gives me “hinky” looks unless I have a treat to solicit a smile.
I don’t mean to be a tough customer. Maybe if your wore something more seductive it would trigger impure thoughts from me and you’d have some very “interesting” smiles from.. Just a thought.

Thank you, thank you, for your kinds words, Sadie.
I am not sure years like 79 are worth celebrating. It just a year removed from the dreaded 8-0. Guess I should happy to be around and complaining.
Seriously, the whining is just a camaflouge. I am so grateful to the well wishers coming in from around the world, Marilyn’s regulars who’ve been most kind to me.
Sadie, you’re high up on the list for me to say, again: “Thank you. Thank you-for making my day,

Patricia, I love both versions of “Smilin Through”:
1932- Norma Shearer, Fredric March, Leslie Howard.
1942 – Jeanette McDonald, Gene Raymond, Brian Aherne. Color and more a Jeanette show.
Patricia, which do you prefer?

I prefer the original. Somehow, a musical is too “showy” for this plot.
