Excellent pic! I can’t imagine black/white can create such a compelling effect. Really love it!

I started out working entirely in B&W film back in the day. Then, when I no longer had a dark room of my own, I went to color. I’d almost forgotten the cool stuff you can do with black and white, if you have the right picture. It’s fun doing the same pictures in color and in black & white and seeing how different they look with and without color. Black and white emphasizes structure and form. It can also keep the viewer’s eyes on your target. Color is distracting, or can be. It’s wonderful to now have tools to do both!

Wow. Big and bold is right!

Because of the angle, it looks a lot bigger and higher than it is. I used a wide angle lens pointing straight up. It’s just 2 stories. The lens exaggerated that as does the black and white processing. I thought it was interesting and fun to try something different. I so rarely work in black and white anymore; this looked like it would work. I have a version of it in color, but this is more interesting. Thanks 🙂

Thanks! I wanted to try something a little different. A had a lot of contenders, but they were (for me) the usual and this wasn’t. It’s part of the lobby of the Dana-Farber in Milford.

We all have a lot of contenders.. It is a vague one. I would love to see more thought provoking words… I was thinking ” Habits”

Why not submit the idea to them? I don’t care for it as a photographic topic … that would for me be about words, not pictures. But my visual sense and word senses are neatly divided. They live in different parts of my brain.

I love to write but I do not have the time and I am more comfortable expressing myself visually as it’s quicker!

You are right there! Whenever I’m tight for time, I use more pictures, less text. It IS quicker, if you have the pictures.
