It’s going to be a rough week. We are supposed to take a vacation at the end of this week — visiting friends — but I need something to get worked out here and make sure we have a house to come home to. I at least need to know what’s going on around here — if MAPFRE is going to help at all with this repair or we are just left hanging.
And I have also very quickly hire a contractor who will do a good job at a decent price. Soon. I’m almost as terrified of finding a decent contractor as I am of somehow guilting the insurance company into not abandoning us.
I had hoped by now I’d know if the insurers would come through before I tried to find a contractor, but I don’t have any time left. Summer is disappearing and suddenly, winter will drop by — and then nothing gets done until next spring.
It is a bit tricky without money. It’ll get done. How exactly? Good question, but it’ll get done. Somehow.
Sometimes, when you are looking at what is going to be a very difficult period of time, it’s good to get out and take a few pictures, which we did. There’s not even a hint of autumn outside. Usually by September — even near the end of August — at least the maples are beginning to shift colors and the aspens are yellow. But this time, it’s just solid green, green, green.
On the other hand, the weather was wonderful. Cool, dry, with puffy white clouds and reflections like mirrors in the canal.
Just be patient with us. There’s an awful lot we need to get done and we have very little time in which to accomplish it. I think the biggest miracle will be managing to get something happening before the snow flies!

Beautiful images! 🙂
If it was like that all the time you could live outdoors! But, of course…. 😦

Lovely pictures. The green is still very pretty but I hope you will get some nice colour in a few more weeks.

Well, they denied the claim. It didn’t happen in a single event, so it is “wear and tear.” You just can’t win. Never mind that it was a season of storms. I guess as the weather gets worse, they will deny ALL claims.

Oh, Marilyn…..that’s nuts. I am so sorry.

Photo-therapy. 🙂 There’s no doubt that getting outside to where it’s beautiful and surrounding oneself with nature is definitely good for the stress levels. It works for me. Fantastic photos, and I hope the rest of the week works out well or you. 🙂

It would have been more fun without the lethal mosquitoes.

Thanks for the timely reminder that I need to schedule my A/C to be winterized and my furnace checked to make sure the wasps didn’t find their way in and nested in it. :O !! It’s going to be an early and severe winter up here I think. It’s only the 9th and the temps have dropped and there’s lots and lots of rain on the way (so the forecasters say). I’m having a hard time getting around already too due to the chilly temperatures and the wonky knee. It hurts a lot. Enjoy your vacation and put all the troubles on the back burner in your mind. It might just give you a little respite to be able to recharge your batteries for the next go round. Good luck with that contractor business. That’s always scary.

We probably won’t go. I’m not feeling well and anyway, all I would do is worry.

Yes, exactly as you said, somehow it always gets done. Hoping it’s not too hard a process and the pics are great

It’s going to be rough. But there’s no avoiding it. It has to be done.

I hope you find the contractor on ideal rates, for you.

Oh me too!! I have one coming this week who is highly recommended. Got my fingers crossed. If I offer him cash, sometimes that helps (they can dodge the taxes). But I also need a guarantee.

We just called to get our furnace cleaned before the autumn sets in. I’m afraid the summer is over.

It has been pretty chilly. We had to add another blanket. Unless it warms up, it’s time for the down comforter.

We put an extra blanket on too…

I am not sure what has happened, Marilyn. Is it to do with the hurricane? All the best to you and Garry.

The hurricane never got here, but we have had storm after storm — but no hurricanes.
