FOTD – July 5, 2019 – Daylily
It’s definitely the season of the daylilies. They really are everywhere. I keep trying to find new ways to take pictures of daylilies that don’t look exactly like the last set of daylilies, but so far … well … they look like daylilies. In particular, the leggy tall ones we grow locally.

Must be all that rain because they look really happy.

The rain has made everything grow like crazy. The vines are climbing over everything. there are places where they’ve escaped the woods and are making a run for the road.

I’ve more or less given up. I can’t get into the garden at this point. It’s packed with lilies and weeds and vines that seem to have come out of nowhere. And what I need (Owen has one but I need him to bring it over) is a long-handled cutter. I can’t reach a lot of things. You know, we actually built paths when we created the garden, but they are completely overgrown.

More power to ’em. That’s a great shot against the old tractor – a study in rust and resilience!

These lilies have formed an underground rock-hard bed that is close to impossible to break apart. They were individual plants when I put them in, but they have truly taken over!

A virtuous take-over!

Beautiful lillies. The only place I see them here is at the local cemetery. They seem to need space

These lilies get really huge. Tall too. And they make a really hard clump underground that’s very hard to break apart, even with a shovel. Mine are particularly big and hardy. They’ve driven out almost all the other plants, too!
