Gladioli by the bunch – 9-9-19
I took the camera to the florist today, something I haven’t done in a really long time. I discovered they actually sell orchids now and I hinted VERY broadly that I would really, really, REALLY like to have one.
So for today’s Flowers du jour, it’s gladioli. The first bunch are “normal” processing and the second is a more graphic presentation. Otherwise, there was not a hint of fall to be seen. Not even the yellow leaves on the aspen trees. Everything is as green as it was in the middle of July.

I always thought gladioli were for funerals as I always saw them in arrangements at funeral homes. Now I am OK with them. John brought home a big bunch a couple weeks ago, much to my surprise. They looked really nice.

They were really breathtaking. They don’t always have them, but these were spectacular.

We’re not getting a lot of color although the leaves are falling from the trees. I love glads.

Too much rain. I’m sure that the ground is just wet. It was like a giant sponge. Apparently, so was my house.

I often bring it with me, but forget to take it out and actually take pictures!

IF you can grow them, they look amazing with other tall flowers.

I did once. Now since I cannot sit or kneel, I stay away from active gardening.

We are getting a little color up in NH. A red or yellow tree here or there. Not ahead of schedule, but not really behind either. Nice flowers.

Literally NOTHING here. Last year was a dud, too. The rain just drowned the color change.

We’ve had a few sub-par years as far as color goes as well. Hopefully this is better.
